kp PureTool ZBMEditor vdiskmanager_GUI VMXExtras PMRC

Introduction

As the name implies, vdiskmanager GUI is a simple GUI wrapper for the command line program vmware-vdiskmanager, a virtual disk manipulation program that comes with VMware Fusion. It is intended for users who are not comfortable with the command line; CLI-savvy users will not find any additional functionality compared to the command line tool.

PMRC is not a VMware product, please don't pester them for support.

The VMTN Communities discussion thread for vdiskmanager GUI is here.

Requirements

VMware Fusion must be installed, which implies you must be using an Intel Mac.

Notes

While I think this is a safe program (since it doesn't really do much), as always I might have messed up. If you're worried about data loss, be sure to back up your vmdk file(s) before using this program.

Fusion 2.0 has more virtual disk options (including changing disk types and expanding disks), so vdiskmanager GUI is not as needed.

Known Issues

Raw Disk action does not do anything
vmware-rawDiskCreator doesn't give informative feedback and some options don't work. I'm also not sure yet how to do some of the disk detection.

I ask that in return for using vdiskmanager GUI, you do something extra (beyond what you would otherwise do) to improve something. It can be yourself: Learn a new vocabulary word, read a book, practice or learn a skill, get more exercise, etc. It can be something intangible: Give a friend a hug, call your parents or children, and so on. It can be a cause: Volunteer, donate whatever you think this software is worth to your favorite charity. It can be whatever you want. Just make the world a more awesome place.

No warranty or liability for damages. I think this program will work as advertised, but I make absolutely nothing resembling a guarantee about this.

The source code for vdiskmanager GUI is available for inspection, but other rights reserved. If you'd like to do anything with it beyond your own personal use (e.g. if you'd like to fork it and rerelease it), let me know (I'm just curious) and I'll almost certainly say OK.
